Fraud'in

Like the rest of you, I like to say I hate frauds. If you ask someone what a fraud is, more than likely they're going to say its someone that tries to be someone or something they aren't because they believe it will help them gain social standing or quite possibly quell feelings of inadequacy they have about themselves. Regardless, people who are suspected of being a "fraud" are ostracized and criticized as well, but usually not to their face. When your with someone who's suspected of being a fraud, you tend to withdraw yourself slightly from any interactions with that person, as if to put on an act to shield yourself from theirs.

You begin to suspect that someone is a fraud when they start behaving in a way that is not consistent with their old behavior pattern. even if you disliked their old patter, you still criticize them for that change, especially if it looks like they are trying to imitate a person or a new style. It is clear that they are doing this because they believe it will help them , yet you put them down for making that change. Most people believe a fraud is someone who isn't behaving like the person they know they are. If they had change on the "inside" then they would be accepted, but if it clear that they have not then they are not acceptable.

My question is why do we ridicule these people so? They are simply trying to do what they believe will help them in the long run, even if they dont really "feel it", somewhere in the back of their minds they believe its the right thing to do. Dont we all do the same thing, try to improve ourselves and hope that our new "form" is accepted? Yet when others do the same thing we try to crush them under the weight of the illusion we are supposed to be putting up. Do any of us know who we really are? If you put on act all the time shouldnt that be who you really are, not who you think you are supposed to be. In that case it wouldnt be an act, it would be who you actually are.

Dont get me wrong, I too get annoyed when it looks like someones putting on an act, but I dont think its for that reason. Its that what they are doing doesnt look like to me is going to help them one bit, and that is what angers me.
